# Irmu MCP server

Source: https://irmu.com/docs/mcp

Connect Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, VS Code, Windsurf, Lovable and other MCP clients to Irmu so they can fetch and extract live web data.

Server URL: https://app.irmu.com/mcp
Transport: Streamable HTTP. Auth: OAuth 2.1 (scope mcp:use) or API key (Authorization: Bearer <key>).

## Key facts
- Two ways to sign in: OAuth (log in with your Irmu account and approve access) or an API key sent as Authorization: Bearer <key>.
- Create a separate API key just for MCP in the dashboard: its usage then shows apart from your other integrations.
- Every tool call uses the same credits as the matching REST endpoint. There is no extra fee for MCP.
- Calls run under your account and appear in your normal usage and quota.
- You can revoke access at any time by disconnecting the server in your AI tool.

## Tools

| Tool | What it does | REST endpoint | Credits |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| crawl | Fetch any URL as HTML, markdown or AI-extracted JSON, with optional JavaScript rendering, premium IPs and geotargeting. | [GET /crawl](https://irmu.com/api-reference/crawl) | 1, 5, 10 or 25 per page depending on rendering and IP tier |
| screenshot | Capture a full-page or viewport screenshot of a URL. | [GET /screenshot](https://irmu.com/api-reference/screenshot) | Same as GET /screenshot |
| google_ai_overview | Get Google's AI Overview text and cited sources for a query, by country. | [GET /google-ai-overview](https://irmu.com/api-reference/googleAiOverview) | 30 flat |
| booking_search | Search Booking.com hotels for a destination and dates, with prices. | [GET /booking/search](https://irmu.com/api-reference/bookingSearch) | 30 flat |
| booking_hotel | Get a full Booking.com property page: rooms, prices, facilities, reviews. | [GET /booking/hotel](https://irmu.com/api-reference/bookingHotel) | 30 flat (0 if the property is not found) |
| crawl_poll | Collect the result of a slow job. When a tool returns a job id (HTTP 202), the assistant calls this until the result is ready. | [GET /crawl/{job}](https://irmu.com/api-reference/crawlPoll) | No extra charge — the original call is billed |

### Example prompts
- crawl: "Fetch https://example.com/pricing and list every plan with its price."
- screenshot: "Take a screenshot of irmu.com as seen from Germany."
- google_ai_overview: "Does Google show an AI Overview for 'best web scraping api' in the US, and which sites does it cite?"
- booking_search: "Find 4-star hotels in Lisbon for 12–14 March under €200 a night."
- booking_hotel: "Compare room prices for this Booking.com hotel next weekend."

## Using an API key instead of OAuth

Clients that let you set headers can skip the sign-in screen:

```bash
claude mcp add --transport http irmu https://app.irmu.com/mcp --header "Authorization: Bearer YOUR_IRMU_API_KEY"
```

```json
{
  "mcpServers": {
    "irmu": {
      "url": "https://app.irmu.com/mcp",
      "headers": {
        "Authorization": "Bearer YOUR_IRMU_API_KEY"
      }
    }
  }
}
```

## Setup

### Claude Code (CLI)
- Run the command below, then type /mcp inside Claude Code and choose irmu to sign in.

```bash
claude mcp add --transport http irmu https://app.irmu.com/mcp
```

### Claude (web and desktop)
- Open Settings → Connectors → Add custom connector.
- Name it Irmu and paste https://app.irmu.com/mcp as the URL.
- Click Connect and sign in with your Irmu account.

### ChatGPT
- Open Settings → Connectors (developer mode must be enabled for custom connectors).
- Create a connector with the URL https://app.irmu.com/mcp and OAuth authentication.
- Sign in with your Irmu account when prompted.

### Cursor
- Add this to ~/.cursor/mcp.json (or .cursor/mcp.json in a project), then sign in from Settings → MCP.

```json
{
  "mcpServers": {
    "irmu": {
      "url": "https://app.irmu.com/mcp"
    }
  }
}
```

### VS Code (Copilot agent mode)
- Add this to .vscode/mcp.json, then start the server from the file and sign in.

```json
{
  "servers": {
    "irmu": {
      "type": "http",
      "url": "https://app.irmu.com/mcp"
    }
  }
}
```

### Windsurf
- Add this to ~/.codeium/windsurf/mcp_config.json and refresh the MCP list.

```json
{
  "mcpServers": {
    "irmu": {
      "serverUrl": "https://app.irmu.com/mcp"
    }
  }
}
```

### Lovable
- Open Connectors → MCP servers → Add custom MCP server.
- Paste https://app.irmu.com/mcp and sign in with your Irmu account.
- Lovable's agent can now fetch and extract live web pages while it builds.

## Troubleshooting
- **401 Unauthorized or the tool asks you to sign in again:** Your session expired or the API key was revoked. Reconnect and sign in again, or paste a valid key.
- **Tool calls fail with a credits error:** Your plan's credits are used up. Check usage at https://app.irmu.com and upgrade or wait for the monthly reset.
- **The client cannot connect:** Make sure the client supports remote MCP servers over HTTP (with OAuth or custom headers), and that the URL is exactly https://app.irmu.com/mcp.
- **A request takes long:** Heavy pages can take a while to render. Ask the assistant to retry or use a lighter request (for example without JavaScript rendering).
